White Plains Hospital Expansion Breaks Ground
Construction is officially underway on a major expansion of White Plains Hospital in Westchester County. The new ten-story, 475,000 square foot facility, designed by the architecture firm Payette, will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity and capabilities.
Located at 41 East Post Road, the annex will increase the hospital’s bed count from 292 to 436, including 240 private rooms. The Emergency Department will more than double in size with an added 25,000 square feet, and ten new operating suites will expand surgical care offerings. A dedicated pediatric emergency department is also included in the plans.
Set for completion in 2028, the expansion is designed with the future in mind. A modern glass curtain wall framed in warm gray paneling will define the exterior, and new tree-lined sidewalks will surround the site. Signage will appear on both ends of the tenth floor.
“This expansion will help us continue to bring advanced, high-quality care closer to home,” said Joshua Strugatz, chief campus transformation officer at White Plains Hospital.
With an estimated budget of $750 million, including $250 million in philanthropic support, the project is expected to serve more than two million residents across the Hudson Valley.
